8th Grade Standard II-Objective 2 Dependent Relationships Between Organisms

Standard II: Students will understand that energy from sunlight is changed to chemical energy in plants, transfers between living organisms, and that changing the environment may alter the amount of energy provided to living organisms.
Objective 2: Generalize the dependent relationships between organisms.

Enduring Understanding: Food chains and food webs are models used to show the transfer of energy and matter among organisms. These models can be used to show relationship among organisms.

"I Can" Statements

  1. I can model relationships where one organism gains, loses or stays the same in the following relationships: producer/consumer, predator/prey, mutualism, parasitism
  2. I can create a model showing feeding relationships between the following organisms: grass, worm, bird, deer, cougar, fox, gopher and snake.
  3. I can evaluate how different scientists study the same ecosystem.
