8th Grade Standard IV-Objective 2 Gravity

Standard IV: Students will understand the relationships among energy, force and motion.
Objective 2: Examine the force exerted on objects by gravity.

Enduring Understanding Every object exerts a gravitational force on every other object. The distance between objects and mass of the objects determine the force of gravity between them. This force is difficult to measure unless one of the objects has a very large mass.

"I Can" Statements

  1. I can describe two differences between mass and weight.
  2. I can estimate the amount of gravity an object will have.
  3. I can summarize the two that determine the gravitational attraction of an object to Earth.
  4. I can measure the strength of a bridge based on the load it can carry.
