Standard II-Objective 3 Structure/function of cell parts

Standard II: Students will understand that all organisms are composed of one or more cells that are; made of molecules, come from preexisting cells, and perform life functions.
Objective 3: Investigate the structure and function of cells and cell parts.

Enduring Understanding: All living things are composed of cells. Cell theory has been developed over time and new knowledge has often been based on technological breakthroughs.
Cells contain organelles that help regulate the movement of materials in and out of the cell and perform other functions of the cell. Each organelle has a specific function. Cells form from existing cells.

I Can Statements

  1. I can explain how the development of cell theory was dependent on technological advances and previous knowledge.
  2. I can compare and contrast osmosis, diffusion and active transport as they maintain homeostasis in a cell.
  3. I can relate the function of cell to its organelles.
  4. I can provide evidence to support the statement that all cells come from preexisting cells.
