Earth Science 0201
Standard II-Objective 1- Earth’s Internal Heat and Structure.
Standard II: Students will understand Earth’s internal structure and the dynamic nature of the tectonic plates that form its surface.
Objective 1: Evaluate the source of Earth’s internal heat and the evidence of it’s internal structure.
I Can Statements
a. I can identify radioactive decay and heat of formation as the sources of Earth’s internal heat.
b. I can trace the lines of evidence that led to the inference that the cores, mantle and crust materials have different composition.
c. I can trace the lines of evidence that led to the inference that the lithosphere, asthenosphere, mesosphere, inner and outer cores are separated based on physical properties.
d. I can model how a convection current transfers heat in the mantle.
