The Goal: Break the cycle of negative narration by intentionally hunting for—and highlighting—success in your classroom.
How to Execute the 3-Step Reset
- Start with Self-Compassion: Before the first bell rings, write one thing you are doing well on a sticky note.
- Example: "I prepped my slides early" or "I packed a healthy lunch."
- The "Scavenger Hunt" for Good: Throughout the lesson, narrate at least two positive behaviors or academic wins—no matter how small.
- Example: "I love that every single person has a pencil ready," or "I noticed how patiently you waited for the instructions."
- The Reflection Loop: Spend the last two minutes of class asking students to share one thing they feel they did well today.
The Bottom Line
Joy begets joy. When you shift the spotlight from what is missing to what is present, you don't just improve behavior—you build a culture where students feel seen and capable
